Earlier this week, we wrote an article about probably the most hated font in the world that is Comic Sans. We pointed out some arguments in defense of the said font and concluded that Comic Sans is not the problem but the people who were using it inappropriately. The font is bashed very much by typographers and graphic designers alike that it led to the creation of a redesigned version of it.
Lo and behold! Comic Neue!
Comic Neue is a typeface that aspires to be the casual script choice for everyone including the typographically savvy. It is created by Craig Rozynski, an Australian digital designer based in Japan. The font was launched last Monday on Get Comic Neue and was visited over 250,000 times under 48 hours.
It was a hobby project I started almost three years ago to see if the world’s most disliked font, Comic Sans, could be ‘saved’.
Comic Neue is available in two variants: Comic Neue and Comic Neue Angular (has angular terminals rather than round).
Both variants include include light, regular, and bold weights, with oblique equivalents.
What’s the difference?
While maintaining the look that made Comic Sans well-known, Comic Neue eliminated the “quashed, wonky, and weird glyphs of Comic Sans”.
Since its launch, Comic Neue received praises worldwide even from the creator of the original Comic Sans.

It’s casual. It’s free. And nobody will reflexively make fun of you for using it.
Aside from critical acclaim, Comic Neue also made it to the radar of several established websites like Mashable, The Verge, and Reddit.
Which one do you prefer? Is it goodbye to old wonky Comic Sans or hello to Comic Neue and make your lemonade stand look like a Fortune 500 Company?
